How to Break a Negative Legacy and Begin a New Legacy of God’s Promises

Listen my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised to those who love him? –James 2:5 NIV

Have you ever seriously thought about how you will be remembered when your life here on earth is ended? How will your family and friends describe the way you have influenced their lives? Are there significant things to remember and reminisce about? Can you say that you’ve left behind a wonderful basket of love, joy, peace, kindness, longsuffering, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23)?

The Bible says we are known by our fruits – the results of our thoughts, words, and actions. “Therefore by their fruits you will know them” (Matt. 7:20). The fruit of the Spirit is the proof or the evidence of every faithful and committed Christian.

Perhaps you have wondered how your family would take care of themselves if you were no longer able to do so. To be honest with you, most Christians are not paying attention to the quality of their lifestyle or the effect it has and will have on their loved ones and friends. The most valuable treasure a Christian can leave his family is an everlasting legacy of faithfulness, dependence on God, truth, and God’s love…

Are you thinking, “But I don’t understand – I’ve inherited some bad stuff and I’ve been passing it on to my family and friends”? You are not alone. Multitudes of people who come to Jesus and accept the gift of salvation are broken and desperate for change. Perhaps you may be thinking, “I am not consistent in my Christian walk. I keep giving in to temptation and making wrong decisions. My children have seen too many inconsistencies in my behavior. I don’t know if I will be able to undo the negative things I’ve already instilled and reinforced in the hearts of my loved ones.”…

I restore all things no matter how much was done in your generational line…in your ancestry without thought or submission to My Word. I am not limited by man’s failures through acts of omission or commission. I am simply God and that is that…the end…enough said…no more to be argued with…cannot be disputed…cannot be thwarted…and most of all…I cannot be prevented from making all things new. In fact, I make a way where there was not a way before. In other words, I make something out of nothing. I have no limits or limitations. Therefore, what I need is for you to agree with Me and faint not. To faint is contrary to living as the overcomer I have already made you to be (Galatians 6:9).1

You can choose to continue in the same position you are in today, or you can choose to possess God’s promises for you. You will have to make that decision.
