What change? We all can benefit from making some changes in our lifestyle and habits.
Today, I took time out to clean a small part of my closet. I organized my shoes and purses. It was a tedious job that took me almost two hours. I stepped back to see the change. It was dramatic. I dumped 8 pairs of shoes, 5 purses, 50 hangers, 10 outfits that no longer fit, 10 designer shopping bags, and a bag full of books. Someone else will enjoy them. These were shoes that I could no longer wear because of the high heels, eventhough they are in great shape.
Sometimes we keep on hanging to stuff we don’t ever need or use. It just lays there taking up space. We do the same with cosmetics, toiletries, clothing, books, gadgets, food, and miscellaneous stuff we think we need.
When we finally realize we need the space or we have too many things, we start digging out, putting aside, giving away, or throwing out some of the stuff.
Of course, I am not the only one with this problem. I’m sure we all have some stuff we can give away and some we can throw out.
As I relfect on these thoughts, I really want to get to the point of this blog: Are you ready for change.
Change starts on the inside. It refects in our attitude, our thoughts and our actions. The things we allow into our mind will have a great influence in our actions.
I was sharing with a young man by email about a dream I had where I saw him eating a meal and six scorpions were crawling around on his plate. In the dream he seemed undisturbed by the scorpions. He continued eating passively without emotion. When he finished eating, he got up to leave the room and in the dream I ran after him to warn him about the need for change in his life. I said to him: “you need to make some drastic changes in your habits or the enemy is going to poison you and take your blessings. I awoke and that same day I sent him an email.
In fact that was today. He answered back and said: “Yeah, the devil comes at me a lot. It’s an up and down type of thing. I’m trying to take every thought captive an asking God for more boldness this year. I have a lot of Jesus knowledge, but I am not good at speaking it…my concern is the band I’m involved with…not all my band members are saved and I’d be on the road with them all the time. I’m believing in God for them though. I need to build myself up so I can be the light in all the dark places I will go. I have strong faith or believe I do…
As you can see, this young man represents many many Christians who struggle with their salvation and belief system. We cannot be safe in the enemy’s camp. We must make a decision to either serve God all the way or open ourselves up for the attacks of the enemy.
Our young people are being influenced by the music, lifestyle, social media and entertainment venues to think that we can be a Christian and at the same time be lukewarm by partaking of everything the world has to offer. Not only young people, but Christian adults of all ages.
We need to take inventory and see what is cluttering our minds and hearts. What is there in us that needs house-cleaning. What things can we change. What things do we need to stop doing. What things need to come out of our inner closet?
I consider myself a mentor who cares about people. This is not an easy task. Causing people to look inward and take inventory of their lifestyle is not an easy task. But seriously, I feel a responsibility to point these things out because I myself have been so blessed by God.
Our Creator is looking for people who can lift up Christ. God is also looking for people He can bless and pour His loving kindness upon.
It is time for change. Change that will dramatically impact your life in a positive way. Change that will impact your marriage and your children in a wonderful way.
Are you ready for change?
